Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy

everyFAMILY is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  We expect all trustees, staff, partner agencies, volunteers, students and parents/carers to share this commitment.

Sometimes we may need to store information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.  We will ensure that any concerns are discussed with his/her parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

Definition of Safeguarding

EveryFAMILY adopts the definition used in the Children and Social Work Act 2017 and the national statutory guidance: ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ (2018) and ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2021), which focuses on safeguarding and promoting children and young people’s welfare and can be summarised as:

  • Protecting children from maltreatment.
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development.
  • Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care.
  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
